33 weeks

Today we had our childbirth preparation class...it was long but I thought it was really helpful. We practiced some breathing techniques and helpful "positions" for dealing with pain while in labor, but it was mostly informative. They also gave us a tour of the maternity unit at the hospital which was interesting. The labor and delivery rooms were new and didn't feel like hospital rooms at all so that was nice. However we were told that there is a 50% chance we might be sharing a room with a roommate after delivery. Although the maternity unit is new, it is sometimes too small to accommodate the amount of women who give birth there. So, they share rooms. Sharing a room with a stranger would be weird but hopefully I wont have to spend too much time there afterwards. We also got a glimpse of the nursery and saw four babies in there...they were too cute and one little guy was screaming his head off! Out of the 12 couples that were in the class, half knew what they were having and the other half didn't. Everyone that knew what they were having were all having girls. What are the chances? There was even someone expecting twin girls.

I'm up to 32 lbs. in total weight gain! Yikes! I'm having no cravings for junk food or anything what-so-ever and I'm eating healthier than I have in my life. The doctor wasn't concerned. He reassured me that I probably will only put on weight for the next 3 weeks and then the weight pretty much levels off after 36 weeks.

Next weekend my mother-in-law is giving me a shower, so I am excited for that...also excited to start filling up the nursery with baby things. I hope I get a newborn care manual. They do come with a manual don't they?

Mom, pick yourself up off the floor, I'm just kidding.

32 weeks

CONGRATS to Dawn and Mike on their absolutely beautiful new baby girl, Kaitlyn Marie, born on April 17. She is so cute and I think she looks just like Dawn when she was little, minus the curly hair!

Peanut and I are doing well. Ray too, if any really cares about him!! He is upset that more people don't ever ask how HE is doing. Doesn't he understand how the order of operations is going to soon work? Peanut, then Lil, then me and then him. My recent blood work showed that my iron levels are still too low, even with the supplements that I've been taking. So I have to double the supplements now and hope that is enough. I've learned that at this point in the pregnancy, the baby is now taking most of my iron and storing it for himself/herself so its not uncommon to have low iron.

I think I'm starting to gain weight in my hips now as my maternity pants are now starting to feel snug in that area. It looks like I will be heading back out to shop although I had hoped that I was done with buying maternity clothes. Only 8 more weeks!

I've posted some pictures of the nursery furniture. The nursery is not completely finished and we still have the guest bed in there so the furniture is tucked away in the corner, but you've got the idea. I think that the glider and ottoman cost as much as the dresser so it better be worth it, as I'm sure we will be spending a lot of time in it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

30 weeks....10 to go!

Why does Mike think I'm having twins?? No twins that I know of, but do I look big or something?? Everyone tells me I just look like I swallowed a basketball. I do however, think I might have a Type A baby on the way. Up until this week I thought the baby was pretty tame and wasn't terribly wild in the womb or anything. This week...different story. If I could see the inside of my uterus right now it'd probably be black and blue. Peanut has been very busy this week or very mad at me, not sure. I thought Peanut slept like 90% of the time. I think the times were reversed this week. In fact, yesterday I had my very first limb sighting. I was standing in my closet deciding what to wear and felt this enormous kick and looked down and my belly was literally doing like a wave action thing. It was creepy. Next thing I know, I see a distinct limb (foot or hand, I couldn't quite tell) actually protrude an inch or so from my stomach and move across my belly. I screamed and went running for Ray pretty freaked out because its like there's an alien or something trapped in there. After a few moments I was laughing and then decided that it was pretty cute.

I also had another Doctor's appt this week and will now start to have more frequent visits. The doctor told me that Peanut was already "head-down" and would probably stay that way until birth. So I can only assume that was a foot I saw yesterday. Total weight gain thus far is 26lbs.

For the most part, Ray has been a great and supportive Baby Daddy so far. I went out and bought a full body size pregnancy pillow to see if it would help me sleep better and he's only complained about it...oh....lets say thirty times this week. He did however ask me if I had experienced Braxton Hicks contractions yet and I almost fell out of my chair. I couldn't believe that he knew what they were. I guess he's been reading or something???
My crazy dreams are back as I had a dream that Dawn had her baby and named her "Dana Wana" (Dana-wayna). They are getting expensive too! I had a dream that someone broke into our house in the middle of the night and Ray and I had to throw him over the landing. (We don't have a landing.) So I had the ADT guy come over two days later and now we are getting an alarm system installed this week.

Also this week the nursery furniture is being delivered, so we can start setting up the room. I can't wait to see what it looks like. Although because we only have 2 bedrooms the guest bed will stay in the baby's room until October when I go back to work. So it will be crowded in there for a little while. My Mom will be spending a lot of time here I'm sure especially while I'm still home and when I first go back to work. Wow, it's all happening very fast!!

I can't believe I typed this much...I didn't think I had much to say!!
